Authorities have arrested a Wilmer father for violently shaking his 2-month old baby boy. Johnny Killingsworth is charged with aggravated child abuse.Noah Killingsworth is on life support and in critical condition at USA Children's & Women's Hospital. He was originally taken in by his parents Sunday night with serious head injuries. Hospital officials called the Mobile County Sheriff's Office office when they noticed signs of shaken baby syndrome.
Sheriff Sam Cochran won't go into detail about the injuries but describes the case as horrible. "I can tell you there's a history of domestic violence in this family. There's a history of drug usage by this suspect. Both of those are not contributing factors but are not a surprise to us in this situation."
Child Advocate Pay Guyton says shaking a baby can do permanent brain damage. "It's almost like taking an adult and just banging their head up against a wall. It can do severe damage to a baby."
If convicted of aggravated child abuse, Killingsworth could face ten years to life in prison.
