south Alabama jail after he was arrested in Spanish Fort, Ala., in
a weekend sex-sting operation.
U.S. Marshals said 34-year-old Mitchell Shane Hooks of Petal,
Mississippi, was taken into custody on Saturday.
Federal agents allege that Hooks drove from Mississippi to a
Spanish Fort bookstore with the intentions of having sex with
someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl from Daphne.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Greg Bordenkircher said the girl turned
out to be an undercover police officer from Saraland, Ala.
Hooks was charged with traveling across state lines to have a
sex with a minor. He's scheduled to make an initial appearance
Thursday in U.S. District Court in Mobile.
