(Below is the complete story from Friday. Be sure to watch the video as well. News 5 tracked him down and he was not happy about it)
A convicted sex offender from Oregon barges into a man's home in Grand Bay.
Trey Sprinkle was at his house on Highway 188 on Thursday afternoon. All of a sudden, a man walks through his front door. Sprinkle grabs his gun and calls 9-1-1. We learned the unwelcome visitor is a man named Michael McInroe.
He wasn't charged because he left Sprinkle's property without incident but he is wanted in Oregon. An investigator with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office contacted authorities in Oregon but they won't come and get him. So, he's a free man and hanging out on our streets.
We found him in Tillmans Corner. He claims he thought the house was a store. "I never walked in. I opened the door and I said wow, man I thought this was a store and the (expletive) freaked out."
Sprinkle says he might be out walking free but he wants everyone to know he's out there. "Somebody needs to know that he's out there and he's already entered one house. Who else's house will he enter."
In Alabama, a convicted sex offender has to register within seven days or they're in violation of the Community Notification Act. Authorities are keeping an eye on McInroe but can only confirm he's been here for two days (since July 16). He was registered in Oregon but that address is no longer valid.
McInroe tells us he's headed to Florida and will register when he gets there.
