MOBILE, Alabama - BREAKING NEWS

The Mobile Arts & Sports Association has signed a contract that will keep the Senior Bowl in Mobile for at least the next three years.

MASA board members met for about four hours Thursday at the Riverview Plaza Hotel in downtown. The finally agreed on a three year facilities lease agreement with the Ladd Peebles Stadium Board with an option to cancel the agreement after each year. But more importantly, they decided to cut off talks with any other cities. Jacksonville and Tampa were among the nine trying to lure the game away from the Port City.

“We are excited that the board has voted for the Senior Bowl to remain in Mobile for the immediate future,” said Vic Lott, chairman of MASA. “I know our city, county and Mobile’s major businesses will rise to the occasion and support the Senior Bowl financially, as will the community with its attendance at the Senior Bowl each year.”

Senior Bowl President Steve Hale says they would like to commit to Mobile for the next 60 years.

“We face a number of challenges, which include ... the size of the Mobile market and the 60-year-old Ladd Stadium due to its age and the lack of updated technology,” Lott said. “(MASA) continues to work with city and county officials and the stadium board to explore every option to ensure the long-term viability of the Senior Bowl.”

It seems this verbal combat paid off. You are not sounding as vicious anymore, and a much more positive attitude to boot.

Good points Ick.  I think the Association pretty much gave Mobile their expectations and now it’s just up to Mobile to meet them or the Association will will take the game elsewhere.  I hope Mobile can come through.  Everyone would benefit from making this a success.

Well, then my opinion of that, is that I am not seeing the same things you did. I think the best thing is to let this thread die, don’t you?

I care about everyones opinion.  I may not agree with it and others may not mine but thats life.  I generally don’t attack others though.  I may attack their arguement but not the person.  This case was a little different as I have exposed.  This individual attacked me personally and I felt the need to defend myself.  As far as the individual attack on him, well he did that to himself.  His own words, flip flopping, and hypocritical attack on me damages his credibility more than anything I could ever say about him.

I think you have twisted my words…You are right though, you are consistent in your bashing and obvious dislike of Mobile. Having enjoyed reading both yours and bobcats posts on many occasions, I know how bobcat feels about Mobile-thus why I think that was a sarcastic comment. I also know how you feel about Mobile, because that writing IS on the wall. Not even sure why you care about my opinion at this point…

Thank you RM.  You are exactly right.  I have been consistent in my opinions for some time.  I am glad you affirmed that.  Bobcat however, has not.  He bashes his own city and then attacks anyone personally for doing the same. Then in the next breath praises the City.

How do you read sarcasm in this?

bobcat Says: Wed, Oct 07, 2009 at 11:43 am “Who cares about the ticket sales when only half the spectators stay past halftime?  It looks bad to the rest of the country to see the lack of interest and support for a measly 37,841 tickets in the first place.  I don’t blame them one bit for wanting to go somewhere that will draw larger crowds and have a city that offers the visitors something to do. The sky boxes are a joke. Capacity of 15 or 20 each? A total waste of 2.5 million dollars so the Mayor and the City Council can sit on the 50 yard line.”

No sarcasm there or in any of the preceding or following posts.  Read the writing on the wall RM.  He will oppose any arguement you make if he decides he doesn’t like you and attack you personally for your opinion, even at the cost of compromising his own credibility.  Don’t be fooled RM.

Actually, I did go back and re-read ALL the comments rolltide. I believe that was sarcasm on bobcats part-because everything else he has said has been PRO-Mobile. Unlike you,who have been negative from the start. I do recall a comment a couple of weeks ago about not even coming into Mobile except to drive through on the way to Biloxi. Sorry, but your words are speaking very loudly on all these threads. If I remember correctly, bobcat has said before that he has a home both in Mobile and across the bay. What purpose would it serve to bash a place he calls home (if I’m right on that)? Anyway, both sides have their problems, no one place is perfect, but certainly Mobile is no less of a nice place to live either.jmo

Give it a break.

Face it guys, it is just a matter of time.  The senior Bowl will not stay in mobile for the same reason we don’t have a major league team to start with, we are not big enough to support it. Just a matter of time as the venue for the game grows and mobile doesn’t. The only saving grace might be if the push for pay TV sports pushes the senior bowl “lesser bowl games” back out of the limelight it has come into the last few years. I know if I have to start paying to watch the sports games I want, I’ll just quit them all together.

I simply held the mirror to your face.  What you saw in the reflection was your own demons flaming. You truly are eating this attention up with a spoon aren’t you?  Feeding the trolls is discouraged on this forum so you are about to go hungry because you have cleared my plate.
Why cant you just be proud of what Mobile has accomplished and stop trying to undermine something good with all of your constant negativity and attacks on those of us who are proud of our great city as well as the other communities that we all call home?

You made the comment.  You meant what you said.  Take responsibilty.
