“To Kill A Mockingbird” has always been one of my favorite books and movies. The setting was the depression era, but the scenes in the movie have always reminded me of my childhood in 1950’s small town Mississippi.
. In fact, I have a suspicion that Harper Lee was influenced by a news story about the trial and death of Willie McGee in 1951. Because there are many parallels between her fictional character (Tom Robinson) and the very real Willie McGee.
