INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indiana money manager says he "wasn't of
sound mind" before a plane crash that authorities say was an
attempt to fake his own death.
In a telephone interview with ABC's "Good Morning America"
broadcast on Tuesday, Marcus Schrenker said his plane crashed after
hitting clear air turbulence. He says he was injured in the plane,
not in a subsequent suicide attempt.
Schrenker was arrested in a Florida campground in January, two
days after officials say he put his plane on autopilot and bailed
out over Alabama to flee personal and financial problems.
The plane hit the ground about 200 miles away in Florida, where
he faces federal charges in the crash near a residential area.
In the interview, he blamed his financial problems on the
market, saying his losses were genuine.
