Kids should be held responsible of the stuff they do. They need to be disciplined.  But the discipline should be related to the mistake they committed.

Kids that were interviewed seem not afraid to commit the “crime” they were just upset of the punishment.

I believe they ought to be asked if they were sorry at all for what they did to the school.

Focus of the story should be on the mischief and not on the consequence of it. 

Media needs to help create a more responsible citizenry!

Is Strickland Youth Center not like a boot camp anymore?

These kids aren’t scared of being locked up!!  Its a rite of passage for most of them!!

That’s what I say, haul their butts off to juvi detention and let’s see how scared they get.  I see it all the time at my son’s school.  Go to the office in the morning and see a parent threating to beat up a teacher or principal because their child did something wrong and got punished.  I could be wrong, but doesn’t this give the child the impression that they are right and the school is wrong? In some way they are being wronged by the system when they get punished for doing something bad?

Good job MPD! Next time haul their little vandalizing butts to jail! It’s the only way to cover your butt when the stupid parents try to sue you for doing what they should have been doing!

Instead of washing the police cars, maybe they should have had them clean up the campus they trashed.  Scubbing a few floors & toilets wouldn’t have hurt them…as for the hitting, I’d be willing to bet my entire tax refund that it didn’t happen. 

Threatened with the Tasers…ya gotta go with what works…I’ve lost count of how many times I have threatened to knock the taste out of my son’s mouth for back talking me.  ONCE I popped him on the mouth & my ring caught his lip…I don’t have to say anything anymore.  All it takes is “the look”  He knows Mama doesn’t play!! 

How much do you want to bet that the lawsuit mama had a record as a kid & probably as an adult. too?  Just looking for the easy money & using her kid as pawn…real mother of the year material right there!

You are not a “southernmama” until you have threatened your kids so much that they believe you enough to behave themselves and would beg the cops to take them away so they wouldn’t have to face the wrath of their parents.

I can bet you a million dollars if all that were involved were African-American cops, there would be no mention of lawsuit.  This is again all about trying to get something for nothing.  You could tell that little boy didn’t know whether to say it scared him straight or not.  NOT. He hesitated and someone was probably shaking their head in the background and he took that cue! Little thugs just grow up to be big thugs!

Southernmama82 - Only the little punks say they were hit upside the head. That is for there law suit. The truth might come out one day.  I say expel them from school and let the parents deal with them. Not our teachers!

Their is nothing wrong w/ them running laps or washing the cars. They should be made to work after vandalizing. I’m not sure I like the idea of them being hit upside the head. But, they have no business threating to taser them. It is just as bad as threating to shoot them. People have died from being tasered. How come the cops can hit someone elses kid but, we can’t discipline our own?
