Tonight, communities across the country will celebrate National Night Out. The goal of National Night Out festivities is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness. More than 34 million people participated in last year's nation-wide event. You can get in on the action here along the Gulf Coast tonight.

Mobile's festivities will begin in Bel Air Mall at the fountain near JC Penny at 6:30 pm. A walk for peace will start things off. News Five's own Mel Showers and Rose Ann Haven will be part of the event.

Prichard will also celebrate National Night Out. This year's theme is "Unity in the Community". The event starts at 6:00 pm at High Pointe Park.

On the Eastern Shore... National Night Out festivities start at 5:00 pm. This year's celebration is at Daphne's Trione Park, behind Daphne Middle School. Fire trucks, police cars, k-9 dogs and other law enforcement tools will be there.

Over in Pensacola, National Night Out events will be held at Maagee Field on MLK Boulevard. The festivities begin at 5:00 pm. Backpacks, books and school supplies will also be given out to kids

Now all the local criminals of the various neighborhoods will know when to strike while everyone is at these meeting places.grin
Sort of reminds me of the young thugs who sent out pamplets for a community meeting concerning all the crime in the neighborhood and that’s when they raided numerous homes.

When are we gonna have a “Raise Your Kids Right” or “Parental Responsibility” Night Out?? That way, we may not need to have anymore National Night Outs.
