New details about a Satsuma mother who police say was stabbed to death by her son.

Investigators believe Kay Browning, 46, was killed on Mother's Day, but her body was not discovered until Monday when her adult daughter went to her home after she didn't show up for a doctor's appointment.

Donna Travis, Browning's sister-in-law, says her niece immediately called her when she walked into the house.

"There were signs of a struggle, lamps on the floor," says Travis. "I went over to the kitchen and there was just blood all over the floor. I knew somebody had to have died."

Travis says investigators told family members Browning had defensive wounds on her hand where she tried to block the knife.

Two televisions, which police say Browning's son had stolen before, were missing.

Joshua Browning, 26, was arrested Monday afternoon after he was caught driving his mother's car. Investigators say they found both tv's, his mom's credit card and cocaine.

"He killed his mother. No way he can get out of that," says Travis, who believes her nephew's alleged drug addiction was his motive.

Joshua Browning is charged with murder, theft and possession of cocaine. His bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning.

Browning was scheduled to be on vacation this week from her job at the post office, and her family says she planned to take her granddaughter to Six Flags.

In my opinion the funeral home web site is the place to offer condolences, etc.

I also would never never go to any news site and expect not to be offended by comments made there about a family member/friend of mine. This site is to commented on whether good, bad or ugly.

It is best to avoid newspapers, TV and computers in times of tragic circumstances like this.  Otherwise you will be offended, saddened, mad or with a multitude of emotions.

Thank you for your prayers and words of encouragement.

TBoMax, I truly am sorry for you and your family’s loss. I’m sure she was everything you described. Last night when I heard about this I prayed for your family and the accused. If any of my comments on this site hurt you please forgive me. Having come from a family that experienced alcohol and drug abuse I know first hand what that can do to a family, always waiting on the other shoe to drop, always waiting on that phone call that you know will come.Stay strong and remember trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. GOD bless you and your family.

I had hoped to see uplifting support here from people who care about Kay.  Our family is shocked and angry, but foremost we are in mourning.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt, a devoted wife, and a dedicated public servant with our US Postal Service.  Our God chooses a just punishment for our sins.
If Josh is indeed the killer, he will be dealt with through the justice system or definitely in the afterlife.  There is still an investigation into this crime, so that tells you this is not a done deal.  Let the police finish this investigation, then you and the other villagers can approach the courthouse (or this comment page) with pitchforks and torches.  For the sake of the family, including myself.  Please show a little class and tact and let people come here to pay respects to the life of a wonderful lady who will be missed.  Thanks, in advance, for your consideration.  -TB

Sorry but I have to disagree, sitting in jail for life is only rewarding him.  He obviously has no emotions and to him Mother’s Day means NOTHING.  Mother’s day is a day to honor your mother, Killing her and stealing from her and then leaving her dead body there shows no remorse and therefore he will not have any remorse come Mother’s Day, her Birthday, his Birthday, Christmas and any other imporant occassions.  This man has no soul and death is the only punishment he deservers.  Drugs do not kill people, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE FOR DRUGS!!!!

I would hope we set an example with this young man for any other drug fiends to maybe think twice before committing such a terrible terrible crime.  I would think life without any chance of parole would be the worst punishment possible.  This young man has to know every mothers day, the mothers day gift that he gave to the very one that gave him life.  That in itself ought to be worse than execution which would be a big cop out and give him a way out.  Make him live a whole lot of years knowing what he has done.  Let him think about it while he’s in that cold prison cell somewhere ... and mommy won’t be there to visit, or send cookies, or send money ... mommy’s gone, thanks to his own hands!!!!!

He comes to Kill, Steal, and Destroy and that’s exactly what happened. This guy is just now experiencing the first glimpses of hell.

Without doubt, most of us would ump in front of an 18-wheeler barreling down a highway at 90 mph, if we thought for one second it would spare the life of our parents, or our children.  It would be an instinctive reaction, requiring absolutely no thought.  That is how most people are wired.

When people become so disconnected from that innate response built into most warm blooded creatures that they are willing to do away with parent or child for a very momentary gratification, they no longer deserve to walk amongst the rest of society.

Don’t blame it on drugs.  The weakness was there in the beginning and drugs just took it to another level.  Otherwise, we would have all fallen under the influence with the first temptation.
