Saraland School Board Selects New Superintendent

Alabama Saraland  BREAKING NEWS The Saraland School Board has selected Dr. Wayne Vickers to replace Dr. David Stiles who passed away in September.

The Saraland School Board has chosen a a new superintendent. The board selected Dr. Wayne Vickers during a special meeting Thursday evening.

Vickers has been the Superintendent of Demopolis City Schools for less than two years, but has received high praise during that time. In March, the school board gave him a 50 out of a possible 52 on his annual evaluation. The same month, Westside Elementary School won an international reading award. And last August, Demopolis High School was named a Blue Ribbon School, recognizing it as one of the state’s best.

Vickers beat out the other finalist Danny Weeks, the Superintendent of Elba City Schools, one of the state's smallest school districts. he will replace Dr. David Stiles who passed away in September.

The district's attorney will now begin contract negotiations with Vickers. They hope to have a deal in place by July 15.
