SARALAND, Alabama - Police are trying to figure out how a solider ended up dead in his home.

They are not releasing much information at this point, but police say the victim is a middle aged white male. And they are treating his death as a homicide.

The victim's son tells News 5 his dad was in the army and that he was stationed at a base on Tanner Williams Road.

An army captain found the victim's car abandoned in Mobile. Worried something happened to him, the captain and someone else from the base went to the victim's home on Williams Avenue around 2:00 p.m. where they found the man dead.

News 5's Steve Alexander will have more on this breaking story tonight on News 5 at 10:00 after CSI: New York.

Crime can happen anywhere. It doesn’t matter the size of the city.

No area is vaccinated against crime, none,And Saraland isn’t so small anymore. We do see more crime since Mobile is breaking up some of their public housing projects and spreading the residents around the county so it seems, but the Saraland police are doing a better than good job in coping with it.At this time I feel safer in Saraland than any other part of the county. At some point in the future that might change but when and if it does,it wouldn’t bode well for the rest of the county. It seems to me the north part of the county of Mobile is the only part that really has room for a lot of growth in the future,so as the population increases I expect we will see an increase in crime as will other parts of the county.Any part of the county is only as good as their citizens and their police force. If you want to fight crime in your neighborhood ,you’ve got to be a nosey neighbor. If it doesn’t look right,or sound right or smells, get involved and call the police. That has paid off many many times.

Saraland is seeing a lot of crime. Saraland is such a small town to be dealing with this increase in crime. Who knows if they can handle it. Saraland might be the new Prichard in 20 years.
