Southbound I-65 at the "Dolly Parton" bridge has reopened. It was closed for about an hour and a half Thursday because a 45-foot trailer hauling ATV's overturned.

1:34 p.m.
Southbound I-65 is closed at the General W.K. Wilson Bridge, which is affectionately known as the "Dolly Parton" Bridge.

State Troopers tell News 5 a Chevy 3500 pick-up truck was pulling a 45-foot box trailer full of ATVs and electrical equipment. The trailer came loose and overturned.

Troopes say it appears there are no injuries. But the road is completely blocked. Traffic is being diverted at Exit 31 (Hwy 225) south to Spanish Fort.

OMG you guys are killing me…..yeah at night Dolly’s “tips” flash red…..ummmmmmmmm Cover them things up!!!

HAHAHA. Or some cameras to ticket the people that go 150 mph over it since there’s “nowhere for cops to hide”

Maybe the state should consider placing a HUGE halter top over those enormous things in order to help keep the truckers focused as they approach this naked “Dolly Parton” bridge.

The name isn’t posted. I’ve looked.

The General W.K. Wilson Jr. Bridge consists of two parallel tied arch bridges and adjoining concrete viaduct bridges that carry 4 lanes of Interstate 65 across the Mobile-Tensaw River delta northeast of the U.S. city of Mobile, Alabama. It was named in honor of Walter K. Wilson, a Chief of Engineers with the United States Army Corps of Engineers and long-term resident of Mobile. He was credited with being one of the first people recognizing the need to construct a high-level bridge on Interstate 65 over the Mobile River because of anticipated waterway development. The state of Alabama named the bridge in his honor after completion of construction in 1978.

That’s wild I live just this side of it and have drove over it a thousand times and never paid attn. to the actual name of it.

me too, im going to have too google that and see whi he is

Yeah, I’m 25 and this is the first I’ve heard it called the “General W.K. Wilson Bridge”!

hahah Ive lived there all my life, Im 23 now and I never knew the real name!! There was a wreck last weekend North bound on that bridge the car was upside down, its very rare that people wreck on that bridge

LOL. That bridge does look like “tig ol’bitties”. I’m glad I finally know the REAL name of it.
