BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Four Alabama mayors have agreed tosupport T. Boone Pickens energy plan.
The Texas oilman has spent million of dollars in recent month
promoting wind power for electricity production and natural gas
powered cars. 168 mayors across the nation have signed a pledge to support the proposal.
They include Mayors Don Kyle of Decatur; Charles Penhale of
Helena; Leon Smith in Oxford and Charles Murphy in Robertsdale.
Pickens said his plan is framed as a blueprint to reduce U.S.
dependence on foreign oil. He wants to present his plans to
President-elect Barack Obama after he takes office in January.
