MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Gov. Bob Riley has announced plans for a
five-day industry hunting trip to Germany.
Riley announced plans for the trip Thursday after meeting with
Germany's ambassador to the United States, Klaus Scharioth, and
Counsel General Lutz Goergens.
Riley said he will leave Alabama Tuesday and will meet in
Germany with officials from a company that is considering locating
in the state.
Riley said he and the German officials discussed strengthening
the partnership between Alabama and the European country.
More than 50 German-based companies are located in Alabama.
Those include the Mercedes automobile manufacturing plant in Vance
and the ThyssenKrupp steel processing facility being built in
Calvert.

I hope he doesn’t give away $800 million to the next company like he did to ThyssenKrupp steel.
He may do better by promoting the small business for within and keep the profit in America.

bob sure does like getting his passport stamped on our dime. he was a traveling congressman as well i seem to remember. couldnt we just cut him a check and let him go early, he really doesnt seem to do that much for alabama.

One might think so but with more and more jobs going over seas because of cap and trade, go green, tax the rich, more government control and less free enterprise. You better look over there because it won’t be found much here with all this change going on!!!!

Does anyone else think that our elected officials are taking far too many “trips” to Europe while we foot the bill? I wonder if they stay in budget hotels…and eat inexpensive meals? In todays world, video-conferencing is much more eco friendly and costs far less than a trip to Europe. Does anyone else out there see something wrong with this picture?
