According to the Mobile County Health Department, approximately 1,100 gallons of untreated sewage overflowed at 28 Royal Street in downtown Mobile due to a broken lateral. The break has been repaired and officials say the raw sewage flowed into Mobile Bay.

An officer with the Health Department is advising residents to take precautions when using Mobile Bay for recreational purposes. All seafood harvested in the area should be cooked thoroughly and residents should wash their hands after cleaning fish or seafood.

This is way cool. so like when mawss loses the law suit it can take some of the relief money for fixing things and pay the feds so they can give mawss more money for the money it lost in a law suit and mawss can show how they need more money now because law suit we don’t have the money we need to fix things and we will be sued again so we need twice the money you just gave us so when we are sued we can have enough money to go to court and get you to give us twice as much as it did to fix it when we lose ...  hey mikey phelps pass that thing one more time. i’m almost there.

I have learned that there is a pending lawsuit, The United States and the EPA vs MAWSS. I wonder if they know about the additional spills.

Shealeigh, now i really do not know a lot about water lines, but who is responsible for the upkeep of these lines. like maintenance. i know with underground fuel tanks, station owners are required to have line test once a year. cathodic protection test upgrades etc. out of all the public utility companies i like mawss the best. i just wonder if they have to file reports on any line testing.

somthing about this story just stinks.
(groan in advance)

Framkly mawss can’t help when a line breaks, but when one does break they are prompt to get there and repair the problem. There are lots of good employees with MAWSS.  Until you walk a day in someone elses shoes you shouldn’t judge them.  Somethings just happen in life and this is one of those things.  It is common sense to cook everything throughly and washing your hands well that is common sense too.  So take your class action law suit and stick it where the sun don’t shine.

epa should get involved in this to.

John Tyson, get involved. I am calling for the do nothing health officials to resign as well as those with MAWSS. Any locals up to filing a class action law suit against those of cause?

There’s so many petroleum based products floating on the surface of the river near Cooper Park that I doubt the sewerage had a chance to affect the seafood caught in that area anyways.

That’s in addition to the quantity that is washed down the storm drains during mardi gras.
