A rape suspect is in the hospital after police say the alleged victim's relatives attacked him.

55-year-old John Berryhill is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl after he broke into her house on Dauphin Island Parkway. Around 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, three black males attacked Berryhill with a metal pipe.

Wednesday, police announced the three men who beat Berryhill are relatives of the rape victim.

Berryhill is charged with rape and burglary. He will be taken to jail once he is released from USA Medical Center.

A grand jury will decide whether the men who attacked Berryhill will face any charges.

JUSTICE SERVED!!! What if this child dies? Guess what then? Her voice is GONE!!! I think that the family did the right thing. Maybe just the childs parents should have beat him. Maybe this is just a catch 22 situation, but you have to think of how these parents are thinking when their child has been done this way. It’s not a great feeling. You are put here to protect your children in any kind of way.

We let murders and rapest go around like nothing ever happened. It will just get worse.  I like this approach much better!~

The only thing I find wrong with what the three people did was not record it and put it on you tube so we could all get the pleasure of watching the rapist get beat.

great job to the three that beat him.  the police just sit back and let them get away with it.  the crime here in mobile county is getting to be unbelieveable.  the housing market is suffering, but who wants to move here.  thugs, drugs and you name it are always in the headlines.  time to clean up the streets.

I cannot believe what I’m reading here. One of the things that has made America much different than other countries, is the fact that in our society, a person is innocent until proven guilty. “Mob justice”, is illegal in this country. Every person has a right to a fair trial. Our constitution is crystal clear on this fact. Look it up folks.

if they get fined for looking out for their family then community should pull together to pay those fines.  they shouldnt be punished.

And they could’ve outlined THAT with chaulk.

All I have to say is God have mercy on ANYONE who harms one of my children, because I won’t!  These guys are heroes in my book.  You have to protect your family first.  Too bad Lorena Bobbitt wasn’t riding with these guys!  She could’ve really delivered the justice this creep deserves!!

I think these people deserve a commendation for standing up to this thug!!!  Granted I believe that we should leave the police to do their jobs but they cannot be everywhere all the times and even when they are there sometimes they are restricted as to what they can do.  I bet this POS will think twice before he ever tries to rape anyone again!!!

they did not beat this man. they were detaining him till the police could get there, he was just resisting. they didnt have a tazer, so they used a P.easonal I.mproviced P.rotection E.quilizer. The P.I.P.E. held him in place untill the police got to the scene. The police need all the help we can give them.
