”... said sticks & stones may break my bones but, words will never hurt me!”
I always thought that was one of the dumbest aphorisms ever known to man. Cuts, bruises and even broken bones heal with time, but I can still remember some of the things said to me when I was just a small child. Those sort of things stick with a person for life.
I believe the new politically correct word is “Intolerance”.A lot of people would have you believe that applies to everyone except them selves. As a rule of thumb, just treat everyone as you would like to be treated and most of us will get along just fine. There are those who are not well balanced mentally and emotionally who will always be intolerant to others,I gather from my experiences with the world. This is just the opinion of and old swamp dweller sitting up here in north Mobile county trying to stay warm,GOOD MORNING ALL and stay safe out there today and remember that each new day is a chance to start life over on the right foot.
When I was in 1st grade a kid told me I was fat. So I told my teacher. My teacher said sticks & stones may break my bones but, words will never hurt me! so as adults we should get over it & over look the ignorance of others.
As a woman I constantly hear sexist remarks. I could care less. The people who say sexist things to me I write them off as ignorant pigs & move on. I can’t let what others say effect my life!
We teach our children to over look what others say. So shouldn’t we lead by example?
