Bank Robbery at the Army Aviation Credit Union

"On March 6, 2009 at approximately 1:04 P.M. Mobile Police responded to a report of a bank robbery at the Army Aviation Credit Union located at 1921 Ninth Avenue (Brookley Field Complex). Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim (teller) who advised that an unknown white male subject entered the bank and displayed the handle of what she believed was a handgun. The subject demanded money from the victim as he displayed the object described as a weapon. The victim complied with the subject’s demands and gave him an undisclosed amount of US currency.

The subject fled the scene with the money occupying a dark colored Chevrolet S-10 Blazer. Officers received a description of the suspect and vehicle and were able to apprehend an individual bearing similar characteristics of the bank robber approximately ten minutes later in the rear parking lot of the Aviation Training Center located at 1975 Avenue C (Brookley Field Complex) without incident.

The subject, identified as Wilford Richard Tracy, (W/M, age 64) was positively identified as the suspect that committed the bank robbery at the Army Aviation Credit Union. Police were able to recover a mechanical “air gun” that has been identified as the object used by Tracy during the robbery, and assorted US Currency from Tracy’s vehicle that have been collected as evidence.

Tracy was charged with Robbery First Degree and transported to Metro Jail."
