ORANGE BEACH, Alabama - It was a day too windy to fish, but not too windy for a protest. Dozens of fishermen took to their boats at Perdido Pass. They want to send a message. The say the NMFS is not getting accurate data on the red snapper population. Fishermen say the gulf is teaming with them, but NMFS isn’t getting its population data from fishermen. They say a short season is hurting their business and hurting recreational fishermen too. The full story is up now.

I think if they are going shorten the season and limit change like they habve there should be a one year restriction on the comerical and lnngliners. That would damn sure take the pressue off the fish. And I am sure the public can go a year without red snapper in their resterants and grocery store.
