Harris Grocery is once again open in Wagarville. It was closed for nearly nine months after longtime owner Ray Wheat was killed in a robbery.

The store is a landmark of this community. With its 60 year history in Wagarville, people around town are happy to see it back open again. New owners have taken up the reigns. They say it will be a challenge to keep this store going, but it’s something Ray Wheat would have wanted. Wheat was a well known man in the community. When we first reported this story back in December friends told us the slain shop owner always let people get what they needed, sometimes when they didn’t even have the money to pay for it. I’ll have more on the store’s reopening later today.

Driven by that store manya time on the way to Millry. Some of the strongest winds you ever want to drive through around Sunflower and down 56(I believe they named it the Brian Nickols highway a few years back).I liked the looks of the store,it reminded me of a lot of the old country stores.
