IRVINGTON, Alabama - A teenager charged with the weekend accident that sent an Irvington mother into labor was on probation.

17-year old Adam Skipper was arrested in Gadsden, Alabama after authorities found him in a drug treatment center. According to the Mobile County's District Attorney's office, Skipper was on Lortab and Xanax last Saturday when he caused the three car crash.

Ashley Corry and her family were on their way to a baby shower because Ashley was pregnant and due in December. After the crash, Ashley delivered Caylynn by emergency c-section and she's doing fine.

News 5 has learned that Skipper was one of four convicted in the beating death of Charles Tillman in the summer of 2008. Four people, including Skipper's dad, were convicted of killing Tillman with their fists, sticks and a baseball bat.

Three went to prison, Skipper got probation.

The crash victims are all expected to survive but want to make sure Skipper goes to prison this time. Ashley's mother Donita McGuire can't believe she almost lost her family. "What I know is what he's done to my daughter and he needs to pay for what he's done to my daughter. He doesn't need to get off with probation you know because he's gonna do this to somebody else."

We tried calling the judge who sentenced Skipper, Rick Stout, but he didn't return our calls.

Ashley Corry doesn't have any insurance so family and friends have set up a fund to help them out with expenses. You can donate at any RBC Bank. It's listed as the "David and Ashley Corry Fund."

You can also make donations at 3 businesses in Bayou La Batre
Subway
