There could be additional help for House of Brides customers.

The store closed up shop two weeks ago. A recording on the store's answering machine says they closed "because of the economy." Customers said they had no notice the store was going under. Some lost hundreds of dollars of deposit money.

Michael Hickman with the Mobile County District Attorney's office says he's cautiously optimistic that the owners will come through on refunds. An attorney for the Shorey family told News 5 they'll being refunds after December 1st. He says Alabama law gives businesses 15 days to address problems with customers. If the business doesn't address the problems, there could be limited civil action in specific cases.

Right now, the refund hotline voicemail (605.2681) is full, but the Shorey's attorney says he notified his clients to free up the voicemail box.
