Mobile Police believe they've solved a cold case murder dating back nearly 13 years.Police arrested 31 year old Nathaniel Blanks Tuesday for the murder of Jawanzee Marquis Harris 12 years ago.
Police said Blanks turned himself in this morning.
Corporal Charles Bagsby with the Mobile Police Department said, "The victim was shot one time and pronounced deceased on the scene."
Police said Blanks shot Harris after an argument.
Bagsby said, "We are investigating the motive and actual other leads involving this case."
Police said the shooting happened in a roadway in the 400 block of Morgan Street.
Today, there's nothing there.
New homes are now being built in the Orange Grove Housing Development.
Murder charges were originally filed against another man, but they were later dropped.
And at the time, 12 years ago, police said they also questioned Blanks about the shooting death.
Bagsby said, "During the original interview he was interviewed by detectives."
Now, Blanks has been charged with murder.
Bagsby said, "We feel gratified being able to solve this case."
Jawanzee Marquis Harris was 17 years old when he was killed.
If he had lived, he would have been celebrating his 30th birthday this summer.
