Yes it is amazing piling on the quilts and untaxed whisky mixed with honey to break a fever .It was so bad sometimes i would run outside to cough in fear of a good of fashioned hot totie that burned all the way down.And that honey just drug the burning out longer.But i have been sewed up from an old rusty barb wire cut and it healed up pretty as you please.They could do more with little of nothing than we can do in this modern age but they had access to a lot of stuff too That old yellow sufhur they used on cuts and scrapes was some of the best stuff put it in your britches cuff and it would keep the bugs off of you and heal a cut too.

That sort of sounds like that mixture they used that had Whiskey,turpentine and sugar.It’d raise the dead I think! I know it made me gun shy of it.MERCY,that was nasty,and the old favorite to burn off a fever,finely chopped onions and sugar.It’s amazing we’re still alive isn’t it?

Another one that they used on us when they said we were wormy was the old tupentine and sugar .I don’t care how much sugar they used that turpentine taste is still in my mouth .I can look at the bottle and taste it from ten feet.

Talking about cruel!Taking a dose of that powdered black draught was torture.A big heaping table spoon of that stuff always made you think about keeping healthy for a long time.That stuff would gag a maggot.That’s probably what a lot of these pedophiles and crooks need,a lot of old fashioned justice and care.

Yeah but it would cure about anything,Stepped on honey locust thorns as a child it would take two or three grownups but they would stick your foot in a pan of kerosene .I know that sounds cruel but the next day that foot would be good as new it just kinda cordurized the wound the old folklore meds worked on me coming up ,we didn’t have access to medical attention that we have today.
