BREAKING NEWS
Mobile police have identified a bank robbery suspect killed after a high-speed chase.

James A. Hill, 46, of Louisiana allegedly robbed the RBC bank at 4357 Old Shell Road Thursday afternoon. Surveillance photos from the bank show Hill waving what appeared to be a hand gun.

The gun turned out to be a GAMO V-3 air pistol, commonly used in target practice, according to Chris Levy, a spokesperson for the Mobile Police Department.

Hill fled the scene in a green 1994 Acura Legend. After the suspect was spotted by police, the suspect refused to yield to sirens, and a chase began.

During the chase, Hill allegedly threw money of his car but continued driving.

The chase ended at Three Notch and Hwy 90 in Tillmans Corner. The suspect, who police say pointed his weapon at officers, was shot and killed. Police have not yet said how many shots were fired, but a News Five reporter on the scene counted nearly 30 bullet holes in his vehicle.

Ask the teller whose face he put that gun in as well as all those who were in the bank at the time of the robbery how having a “pellet gun” pointed at you feels!  Ask them if they felt they were coping with the REAL threat of death instead of a normal day at work/the banking….are we to ask bank robbers if their guns are real before we defend ourselves or decide whether to feel terriozed.

Why did he bring the gun if not to make people believe it was real. If he wanted to save his life why didnt he throw the play gun out when he threw the money out the window…

I think the guy had a death wish!  Like someone said if you leave home…knowing you are going to play cops and robbers better bring a real gun!

Dude, the police around here are stupid. So predictable too.

aight, go find me a tricked out, hammerless .22 1911.

good thing he was shot before he could get a hostage in the back seat. good thing he didn’t have a coat on full of kittens. good thing he didn’t have a back seat full of dounuts. good thing he is dead and not wearing a poop bag and suing the city. good thing we have the MPD.

Good thing he didn’t have a hostage tied up in the back of that car.

Seniorguy…Don’t sugar coat it..tell it like it is…just kidding.

Your post explains it all.

You may remember Sheriff Grady Judd in Polk County, FL. when a perpertrator was hit 68 out of 110 shots..he said, “that was all the bullets we had”.

BTW, I think Dillingers gun was wood, and it was destroyed by a fire later on. the escape took place as the officer was delivering soap for inmate showers.

well, i can see as i have aluded to on many posts, the police is dammed if the y do and dammed if they dont. i cannt wrap my brain around some of these cockamammy comments regarding the gun being real, bb, air,  or made outa soap. in case u did nt know, john dillinger escaped from jail with a gun fashined ouuta soap. just a comment there, for whats it worth. first, ploice are trained to use deadly force if their lives or the lives of people in society are at risk.please dont even tellm e, they should be able to ssee the kind of gun or caliber,  hammerless or what. if so dumb to sit there as monday morn qb and analaze this when thses police had seconds to makea decision. as some one else posted, all heck would have broken loose if this clown had gotten into the day care or any where around there and killed some one while the police was deciding, how many bulletsto fire or if the gun was real or not.regarding the number of shots. folks, trust me, when this type thing is going down, u shoot to kill. no one has said where the various officers firewing were located. so its possibel their postionand line of fire prevented them from shooting directly at the subject. personally i think its great aim when only 2 bullets out of the 30 some thing fired missed thecar. if i had been shooting i would have done as theydid shoot where i could. no one knew if there were others in the car or not.asi posted prior, before u trash police, call local precinct, ask to be a ride along

Wrong again mmagis34, a lot of guys at my gun range are using the. 22cal. conversion kit on there 1911 because it is cheaper to shoot. They are using the .22 kits on there AR15 as well. You pretty much don’t have a clue. But we can all just about see that now. You have a good day their big guy. lol

Maybe they could have done something different.

At least the bad guy is not with us, and no one else got hurt.

Hopefully the MPD and other departments will review all the actions and maybe we can all learn something.

alright, so i was wrong there, but the chances of him having a .22 hammerless 1911 is slim to none. (most 1911s are .45 which is way bigger than .177)

but yeah, however you look at it, it was alot of unnecessary shooting and violence on the policemen’s part. Properly trained officers should not act like that. At yeah learn to shoot and take 1 or two skilled shots to take the guy out. Save the wild shootouts for Mel Gibson, Will Smith, and Bruce Willis.
