A 19 year old car theft suspect is in jail after he lead police on a chase through a middle school campus.

Kenneth Brown ditched a stolen Chrysler on Booker T. Washington Middle School's track, then ran into the main building of the school through an unlocked door, according to a spokesperson for Mobile police.

The school's principal, Doug July, says a staff member helped chase the suspect out of the building, and the campus immediately went on lock down.

"I just want our parents to know that we took precaution to make sure their children were safe," said July.

Mobile police captured Brown within minutes, and the lock down was quickly lifted.

Investigators say they found marijuana and liquid codeine in the stolen car.

Brown is charged with receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.

You do fine, seniorguy.

wow, yall say it better thani can, also being old yall spell better. great comments, brooks, rm

His beef Brooks,is that he got his feelings hurt at Mardi Gras one year when he was told to get back from the barricade. Childish, isn’t it? So now he hates all the big,bad police-because they hurt his little feelings. And for the record, he avoids road blocks, especially those at Athey and Zieglar. Must have something to hide….because he will always yell those are “unconstitutional.”

dougstech:  What is your beef with the cops?  The police in Mobile do the best that the can with what they are given.  And people like you, who sit around and “Monday-morning quarterback” every action thay make creates hesitation.  Police are faced with life threatening situations everday.  During those encounters, officers make split-second, life-or-death desicions.  And to have someone with no face, sit behind a computer screen and judge their actions damages their morale and has the potential to cause officers to think that extra split-second.

The fact that police chase bad guys is to keep you (and the rest of the public) safe.  The question you should instead be asking is “Why do bad guys run?”  Oh yeah and “How can we (the police and the public) can stop it from continuing?”  So instead of sitting around badgering the officers, why not suggest solutions to the problem,  rather that being part of it?  For the record, I am not suggesting that you not criticize.  Just make it constructive and maybe offer ways to correct the behavior.

And last, but certainly not least, remember that the ofofficers you are talking down to today, are the same onones you will need tomorrow.

doug how do you go about training the police to make thugs run into schools? sheephead

So glad you can FINALLY admit they do a great job, dougie. We knew there was hope for you!

Yup, LEO are trained to follow suspects right to the local middle school. Great job MPD!

must great post , well said and on target^5

You are absolutely right mustyouknow! Glad to see that the majority of folks are sane.

Exactly!!!  LEO’s are trained to drive at high speed and make quick judgments in their pursuits.  If everytime an officer tried to pull someone over and the suspect decided to run because they knew that the officer COULD NOT OR WOULD NOT PURSUE them, then CRIME would be worse than it is now!!! Can you imagine???  Everytime someone robs a bank and a cop gets after them, and they attempt to run and the cop stops the pursuit….. There would not be a bank or convenience store safe ANYWHERE!!!

There are guidelines which LEOs use to determine when to call off a pursuit.  I can assure you that the officer(s) that were involved in the pursuit that involved the death of the toddler a couple days ago have replayed every moment of that day over and over.  Instead of always blaming the LEOs for everything, trying thanking them every once in a while and remember they have families at home and on the same roads as you and I and the same dangers apply to their families too.
