People In Mobile Talk About VP Debate

Alabama Mobile Some hold debate-watching parties.

Many people around Mobile watched the vice-presidential debate Thursday night.
One debate-watching party took place in midtown.
A small group of men and women even dressed in patriotic colors.
When asked his impression of what he saw in the debate, Justin Hinton of Chatom said, "I thought the Republicans were a little better with the health care increases, budget-friendly health care increases. The Democrats, I liked the environmental issues they talked about regarding oil and natural gas."
Stuart Hooper of Mobile said, "Environmental issues that came up have been an interest of mine and I'm glad they came to the forefront, how they stood on it. Especially the oil drilling. It was real interesting to get their sides on it."
Hinton and Hooper also talked about what they thought of the debate based on their own political views, and what they saw that might have struck them.
Hinton said, "The health care issue is something I'm very interested in and I'm still not sold either way on the issue but kind of swinging more Republican on that. But I'm not sold either way."
Hooper said, "I've tried to be unbiased in watching (the debate), but it seemed like every jab that Palin was throwing at Biden he was throwing right back and one occasion (he) kind of set her up."
The next debate is this coming Tuesday between the presidential candidates.
It will be held in Nashville, Tennessee.
