If you have an old traffic ticket and thought you could get away with not paying it, think again. Mobile Police are laying down the law. Unpaid tickets are landing folks in jail. Traffic violators got an early morning wake up call from police. Officers knocked on doors and one by one offenders were cuffed and loaded up in the paddy wagon. Police say all those arrested had outstanding warrants for traffic tickets. For those who think they won't get caught, cops have a clear message: pay up or get locked up, "It's not going to go away. It has to be dealt with. It's either going to be dealt with, you know, on your own or you may have to go, you may get picked up in the morning with the assistance of the police department. But, either way when you get issued the ticket, it has to be dealt with," said Mobile Police Spokesman, Officer Christopher Levy. Mobile Police say more than a dozen people were arrested and sent to jail Tuesday morning. Police had 68 old warrants on their list, they were able to serve more than 30 of them.

I love when the word “intelligent” & double negatives are used in the same sentence! Makes me smile.

i am sure that its people in your hood that have warrants, but we will never see you on the news like you are criminals. i went to jail that day and got out that same day. i am not on welfare i don’t ask you people for nothing. i have graduate with an associate degree two days after the arrest. so lets not get nothing twisted people we are intelligent people just not enough money to stay in the rich part of the hood. by the way i will have lot to say when they come to your hood if it ever happens.

You have a point DT, but all the taxes we pay including the driving and licensing taxes are not good for the economy, some of those people might owe $100 how much you think if costs to put and keep them in jail?

Agree with Razorsharp and cmb1, taxpayers also pay for their housing and food. This allows them to afford to drive the big fancy cars they received the tickets for in the first place. No wonder the economy sucks.

Maybe we need more cops out there, plus some cams, then even the “good” drivers can start paying tickets, with the large number of traffic laws, a a driver might violate a traffic law every time he or she drives. This could mean more money for cameras and traffic cops and can go on and on until a cop can ride in the backseat of one’s own car (for ticket writing) to save on gas.

The same reason why they are on welfare.  LAZY and think the people who work owe them!!!

Why is it that they have the money to buy designer clothes, hair-do’s, fingernails etc., but yet, they cannot pay their tickets? Interesting…

They got to keep the poor paying the driving tax.  Ever wonder why the cops are too busy to help in the event of a violent crime? It’s because of stuff like this, revenue collection.

SOUNDSLIKE A GOOD PLAN BUT WHY WASN’T THEY DOING THIS THE WHOLE TIME NOW ?

well maybe thats why we have so many bad drivers around here! why should i drive good ? what they going to do? give me a ticket i don’t have to pay? you can’t pay your ticket? work it off! we can have flowers like fairhope. for every 5 mph over the speedlimit will get you i flowerbed to plant. 1 parking ticket, plant 5 trees…
