More than a dozen victims are coming forward after a News 5 investigation into 2 local furniture stores.Southern Leather Gallery closed its doors in West Mobile and at the Eastern Shore Center last week. Since then, we've learned that at least 14 different customers never got their custom orders before the stores closed. Some of those customers are out as much as 10,000 bucks.
Greg Dumas is the store owner and told us on Tuesday that he will contact those customers to work out a deal. Those customers are still waiting for the call.
We called Mobile County DA John Tyson and Baldwin County DA Judy Newcomb for this story. Neither one had heard of the complaints from customers. Newcomb suggests filing a police report in the city where the store is located. (Mobile and Spanish Fort)
Newcomb says *if* there is any criminal activity going on, they have to establish a pattern first.
Southern Leather Gallery was a member of the Better Business Bureau years ago but not anymore. Now, they have a growing file of victims at the BBB office. If you want to report your case, contact them by clicking here.
