The Baldwin County woman's murder has shocked social scenes like Dauphin Street.
Many women we spoke with say Parish's murder has served as a wake up call to be more aware of their surroundings.
The owners of the Dauphin Street Taqueria tell News Five security is a top priority for them.
"That's why we've got video surveillance in the entire building in our parking lot next to us..we've also got the cop cameras on every corner. And then we got a door guy that always walks us to our car, so no female here goes to her car by herself," Said Shannon Harley, Dauphin Street Taqueria.
Experts say women should always try to travel in groups, especially when out at night. Take notice of your surroundings. Once you get in your car, lock it and drive off. According to experts women have a tendency to sift through their purse or fumble around with other things, making them an easy target.
