"Save Our Schools", a demand parents are making more often these days, but, it's getting harder to do in the face of deep budget cuts.
Tonight, parents voiced their concerns at a public hearing in Chickasaw. They voiced their concerns about plans to combine Chickasaw School of Mathematics and Science with Clark School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology. Reverend Charles Jackson has a daughter who attends Chickasaw School of Mathematics and Science. Jackson says he understands the school board has to make tough decisions.

"But, they also have to do what's in the best interest of these kids. When they're making these cuts so they just can't combine the two. Someone that's five years old going to school with someone that's maybe 12 or 13 years old", says Jackson.
Superintendent Dr. Roy Nichols says, "One of the things that we have to remember is no decision has been made..these meetings are here to gather people's opinions". Nichols also says the public hearings have been heart warming and eye opening for him..showing him how much people care about their schools and value the education their children receive. Another public hearing is scheduled at Clark Thursday night at 6 o'clock.
