MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama Revenue Commissioner Tim Russell
says the state's reprieve for tax dodgers has produced several
hundred phone calls from people and businesses interested in
catching up on their taxes.
Russell kicked off Operation Clean Slate on Feb. 1. It ends May
15. The program allows people to catch up on their taxes without
interest or penalties.
Russell says it's too early to predict how much revenue the
program might produce. But he says he's optimistic it will be more
than the $3 million generated by a similar program in 1983.

Maybe Alabama will pay the taxes they owe people who have not received their checks from 3 years ago. Why aren’t they charged penalties and interest?
