Obama Ditches Missile Defense System, AL Senators Disagree

Russia Jeff Sessions President Barack Obama says he's scrapping the plan to build a missile defense system in Poland and the Czech Republic. The system was supposed to shoot down any Iranian missiles.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - (AP) - President Barack Obama says he is shifting a
planned U.S. missile defense program away from Eastern Europe to
other locations.

Plans to build the missile defense system in Poland and the
Czech Republic been a major irritant to relations with Russia.

Obama said Thursday the revised program will include
anti-missile weapons based on ships and other locations on land.

He said Iran's medium- and short-range missiles are a greater
threat than long-range missiles. Obama said the revised program
will be cost-effective and based on updated technology and threat
assessments.

Both of Alabama's Senators disagree with Obama's decision.

“The Obama administration’s decision to cancel the proposed missile defense site in Europe to appease Russia is misguided at best and dangerous at worst. The Iranian threat is real. We cannot allow the current administration to jeopardize our national security and supersede the security and stability of Europe and other strategic allies that deserve the highest possible level of defense.”

“Over the past decade, the United States has worked closely with our European allies to install a missile defense shield that is critical to protecting both the U.S. and Europe from the threat of intercontinental ballistic missile attacks. This effort has been a high defense priority, and has required both a significant investment of resources from the United States and the substantial political courage of Poland and the Czech Republic.

“Today, on the 70th anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Poland, President Obama has signaled to our European allies that the United States will suddenly and inexplicably walk away from our commitment, turning our back on our allies in an apparent effort to appease Russia. This callous and cavalier decision leaves our friends out on a limb, high and dry.

“President Obama’s announcement is indicative of a larger hostility towards our nation’s longstanding missile defense plans. Through a series of actions, the Obama Administration is dismantling this important program, and, in the process, undermining our national security and exposing our country to serious missile threats from foreign nations like Iran and North Korea.”

keep praying these weapsons are never used. at some level we are more secure than we were in the 80s, we donbt have the threat of at least hundreds of warheads raining down on us at once, on the other the liklihood of an attack from a rouge nation is bigger. hopefully we are not a target here in mobile in that type scenario. search for first strike or the day after on google video

I appreciate all the input, I hope that it evolves into some serious reaserch and that this passion you all possess will grow into something more than just an opinion without factual basis. I mean really do the dog gone research. Why do we need missle defense in Eurpoe? Why are there UN troops operating and exercising in our own counrty? Why are there massive US military bases all over the world. There are 190 sovereign nations on earth and we have bases in 130 of them? Why are there 800 FEMA internment camps in the US Why is there 5000,000 plastic coffins within 20 miles of the CDC in Atlanta and the airport? Why are they trying to implant you with an RFID radio frequency identification device (see Verichip)?Dissent is the ultimate form of patriotism folks! never seen sheep on meth before, must be one of then french or polish sheep that roll over untill they have no country. hard to say, most of those sheep came up missing some time around the late 1930s to mid 1940s.

Our country would not be the land of the free if we hadnt fought in those wars, we fought for other peoples freedom so they could live as we do, able to have freedom of religion and freedom of speech! I do not believe in starting war, but I do believe that we would not be the country we are and people wouldnt want to be here if it werent for the freedoms we have, and we wouldnt have those freedoms if it werent for the wars we have fought in!!! My father in law has a purple heart from fighting in vietnam and u can bet your a$$ he didnt want to be there, he was 17 years old forced go!! BTW u get a purple heart if you are injured not when you kill someone.

those who refuse to acknowledge the past are doomed to repeat it. Condemnation without investigation is the height of ignorance. So unless one is well informed how can one form any opinion whatsoever, or be entitled to one. I suspected that eventually some one would bring up the “if you don’t like it here you can leave issue” Given the demographic I’d expect nothing less really. logic would have it that if one cannot find anything of fact ,or value to add then attack the person rather than discuss the issues with every degree of intellect. I shall not stoop so , rather i will clos by stating war is stupid and we are too eager to bring it upon each other , rather we should look a bit deeper to realize that we are all connected, and our action are like throwing a stone into a pond, we see the ripples we have made until they go to places in the pond we cannot see. So with this power we must understand that our actions should be taken very seriously indeed for you never know ,there maybe someone you love near the unforseen waters edge

why do we have only two choices? I see many opportunities to adjust our way of doing things and learning from each other, however the banking elite will not have this. They want conflict and everyone to percieve that an evil enemy exists right round the corner waiting to get ya, its a load of pooh! war should be the very last resort in every case everytime.
