It may be one of the toughest times for our country, but a South West Alabama company is giving job seekers hope. At least a thousand people showed up for the ThyssenKrupp Steel job fair in Prichard this afternoon. Job seekers had the chance to meet face to face with T.K representatives and learn more about the 2,700 job openings in Calvert.
While the plant is still under construction many job applicants lined up outside of the A.J. Cooper Municipal Auditorium to get ahead of the competition.
"With this thing you just have to really pray for the best and sometimes expect the worst but I'm confident...if everything looks good then they will select me,"Said April Floyd, a job seeker. "I'm confident that at some point it will bring jobs to the area and actually a lot of people from different areas are coming through because they're hoping because the way the economy is now,"Said Kenneth Stokes, a job applicant.
There are two ways job seekers can apply. Those looking for hourly positions could visit the AIDT website.
If you are interested in a salary position you need to apply at Thyssenkrupp's main site.
