No Jail Time For Joshua Smith

Alabama Mobile  Driver convicted of hitting and killing a 5-year-old will not serve time in jail.

Today Joshua Smith received a one year suspended jail sentence which means he will not have to serve any time. He was given two years probation and will have to complete a safe driving program. Last month, Smith was convicted of negligent vehicular homicide. Smith hit and killed 5-year-old J'Lexus Lee at the intersection of Kennedy and Congress Streets on Fat Tuesday 2007.

it was just a small murder——-t——-.

Well it was an accident.  The child did run out into the street.  He was not intoxicated or otherwise impaired.  His mind was not functioning properly after the “ACCIDENT”. But, what he did after the accident did not contribute to the accident or her demise.  Stuff happens.  My mother was killed in a car accident.  The man that hit her made a mistake based on the fact that stuff happens. His life should not have to be taken because hers was.  How is sending him to prison going to bring her back.

I don’t even have the words. Is this true?
