Not to say they are not there when you said you see the police there, but we must have different times of the day when they are there.Of the many, many times We’ve taken the grand and great grand kids there to play,I’ve only seen them there one time but that’s only during the day light hours, because I wouldn’t think to be there at night. Some did their graffiti painting on the bath rooms and old concession stand and bleachers. It’s a perfect place to not be seen at night because of the heavy over head oak tree growth and a few exits for foot traffic away from Norton Ave.Nice enough place during the day light hours but I wouldn’t go there after dark, but this is really the first time I’ve heard of anything like this happening there.I’m pretty sure Saraland police will find the shooter or shooters fairly shortly though. My condolences to the young man’s family.

This park is close to my fathers house and I see a police car there everytime I pass by.  They normally patrol that area pretty close.

It is terrible, but seriously-do you think kids let their parents know every move they make? Linda-your kids may never have been “allowed” to go to places like that, but if they are like most teens, they are going to do it anyway. I know when I was a teen, the more I wasn’t “allowed” to do, the more I did the complete opposite. If my parents knew of HALF the things I did as a teen….YIKES! I turned out OK though.I am fortunate that my kids actually like to talk to me, and I trust where they say they are going. Though I am not naive, and know that “sometimes” there may be other places along the way. So don’t blame the parents, don’t blame the kid until we know more of what really happened,if we ever do. My thoughts and prayers to this young mans family.

this is a terrible happening.  Why were those children in an unlighted place like that at night.  did not their parents know where they were.  my children were never allowed to go to places like that.

It really is sad and heart breaking for this family.I’ve often wondered about this park after dark, seeing how dark it is there with all the oak trees and some kids hanging out there after dark.

This is so very sad!!!!  My heart goes out to the family!!
