Mobile police will set up safety checkpoints throughout the city on January 9th.

Officers will be checking seatbelts, child restraints and other safety features. They also will be looking for drunk drivers and to see whether you have registration, proof of insurance and a drivers license.

The checkpoints will run from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

New Years night they were on Snow Rd. gave the state trooper the lic, ins card and proof he didn’t even look at it you can go on, i think they were looking for something or someone.

they arent at the usual place, i pulled up on one at the mobile county line somewhere, troopers and deputies about 830 on a saturday night. coudlnt avoid it, coudlnt turn off. they are right its a lot easier pulling up to them when you sober with a license and proof of insurance and my pistol permit.. if they didint catch anyone maybe they would be a waste but they always eem to catch people comitting serious crimes when they set them up so i say keep them up, wherever they are

One way to get even with the road block inconvenience is where ever you are going, don’t spend. They may get the picture when there is a loss of sales tax.

Saving fuel? Instead of going to the crime scenes, let “potential” crime scenes come to them. Oh and BTW Mobile is a joke from the tunnel to al/miss line. So, how ya like it now?

The best way I’ve found to avoid the inconvenience of checkpoints is to take roads larger than 2-lane or neighborhood roads.

“So I…pull over to the side of the road
And I heard “Son do you know why I’m stopping you for?”
Cause I’m young and I’m black and my hats real low
Do I look like a mind reader sir, I don’t know
Am I under arrest or should I guess some mo?
“Well you was doing fifty five in a fifty four”
“License and registration and step out of the car”
“Are you carrying a weapon on you I know alot of you are”
I ain’t stepping out of shhhh all my papers legit
“Do you mind if I look round the car a little bit?”
Well my glove compartment is locked so is the trunk and the back
And I know my rights so you gon’ need a warrent for that
“Aren’t you sharp as a tack are some type of lawyer or something?”
“Or somebody important or something?”
Nah I ain’t pass the bar but I know a little bit
Enough that you won’t illegally search my shhh”

I see them as just another infringement upon our constitutional rights.

I find it funny how everyone gripes and complains about the checkpoints, especially whenever most would gripe and complain if they seen 2 cops eating donuts at the Krispy Kreme. I mean, they are doing what our tax dollars pay them to, and as long as you are not breaking the law, you should not have a thing to worry about. The only time I worried so much about police checkpoints, is whenever I KNEW that if and when my vehicle got searched, I was going to jail. Now that I’m clean and sober, I’m proud to pull up to one, and my heartbeat not raise none. Let em do their jobs, as long as you abide by the law, you got no worries. shut eye

That wasn’t what I was trying to say.

I haven’t seen anyone get waved through either.

Just some areas to avoid if you don’t want to uselessly waste time while on the road.

Now, if you really don’t have anywhere to be on time, then feel free to travel those roads, and get stuck in traffic checkpoints.

What Doug is trying to say is that they’re set up near neighborhoods with a black majority, because this is a legal way around racial profiling…but don’t worry—-if you’re white and driving a $25K+ car, they’ll wave you right through! However, if you’re caught D.W.B., expect to have your car thoroughly searched.

It’s so sad that this is how it happens, but it’s soooo true.
