Seniors in Mobile County have a new place to hang out. The Tillmans Corner Senior Center celebrated its grand opening today, May 30th, 2009. Dozens of seniors and family members turned out for a yard sale, fish fry and music from an Elvis impersonator. Mobile County Commissioner Mike Dean says the 4,000 square foot facility cost about $500,000. He says it'll be a good meeting place for senior programs and events throughout the year.“This is just a rallying place or a meeting place where our seniors can come in fellowship and have a little fun,” says Commissioner Dean. He says the growing senior population in Tillmans Corner needs this center. He says it's a project more than four years in the making.
