SARALAND, Alabama - A woman is in jail charged with killing her own father.Saraland Police charged Lacy Embley Pope Tuesday afternoon for the murder of Anthony Embley four weeks ago.
On November 2, police arrested her husband, John Pope, Junior, for murder.
People who knew the family are shocked.
Robin Mixon lives next door to where Anthony Embley lived, and where his body was found last month.
When told about the arrest of Embley's daughter, Mixon said, "I did not know that. I knew they arrested his son-in-law, but I did not know about the daughter."
Ralph Bradford also lives next door to Anthony Embley.
He said, "To know that they arrested his daughter is beyond belief."
As for Embley's daughter, Bradford said, "I wouldn't know her if I were to see her, but, I did know that he had some trouble with his son-in-law."
Bradford said Anthony Embley didn't go into detail about that, but he knew that they didn't get along real well.
Was Bradford surprised Pope was arrested?
Bradford said, "No, not really. Because, when it happened, the family thought it was him."
The day Anthony Embley's body was found, I talked to his son, Tony Embley.
He talked about trying to find the murderer.
Tony Embley said, "I promise you, I want find out who done it, and I want to find out why. And, if me and my brothers and sisters have to, we will go to whatever it takes to make sure whoever has done it serves however long that they can."
There are still unanswered questions.
How was Anthony Embley murdered, and why?
Saraland police said they'll reveal more about the case in a news conference Wednesday morning.
