Fairhope police have released the names of the three people who were shot and killed Saturday night.

Police say William Wood of Semmes, who was recently released from prison, shot his estranged wife 34-year-old Melonie Wood, her boyfriend, 20-year-old James Tucker and Tucker's grandparents, 70-year-old Jesse Warrick Jr. and 67-year-old Louise Warrick, with a high-powered rifle at their home on Highway 98.

Melonie Wood survived the attack. She's listed in stable condition at a local hospital.

William Wood was killed Sunday afternoon during a high speed chase and shootout with Mobile County Deputies on I-10.

Police have not released a motive for the murders, but Wood's son was killed March 9th in a tragic accident. Four year old Austin Wood's skateboard rolled out onto Highway 98. He ran after it and was hit by a pick-up truck.

Amen Bama Bob I myself am not built strong enough to handle what was put on this young mans plate.Somebody wearing my drawers after all that had happened.I will agree it wasn’t the gun it was wood .But i was young at one time long ago and know that older women have superpowers you know like wonderwoman our something I have a idea that the 20 year olds mind was clouded by the attentions of this lady. But you don’t spit into the wind You don’t disrespect anyone to this point without expecting retaliation how much well i guess it depends on the mental state of the individual in question. The murder of these people CAN’T be justified but it can be understood .I do wonder if they are more children in the situation?
Dew men have been locked up for different reasons and have come out to prosper.Hard work and the desire to better oneself is a strong motivation.
Here in Mobile there seems to be a cyclic situation going on jailed back on the street to be jailed again.
Alabamaoutlaw.God Bless

It is amazing how normal and family oriented this guy looks on his myspace page.Sure, he obviously had drug issues and appears to be somewhat immature but overall doesn’t seem to be such a bad guy.If things could have been different, like his son being with him instead of the mother maybe all of these people would still be alive.

Can we really expect a tormented soul to seek out needed help?  If that was within his grasp, wouldn’t he have made that effort long ago?

After this comment, I am going to stay away from this topic.  There is something that deeply bothers me about the story and that feeling comes from all angles.  Nothing was right about any of this and it ended in an abominable way.

God bless the child that got his own ~~~

BamaBob,
My smpathy lies with the families of the victims and his Mom. I expressed empathy for Bill but his actions were WRONG !  I just wish someone had tryed to get him help prior to Saturdays events ! Then 4 dead people would still be here !! I have to say he definitely had too much grief to deal with. But , he created alot of that grief by breaking the law and going to jail . If he had been home then maybe Austin would still be here ? I know that he loved that little boy and knew his wife was not going to watch him the way a Mother should. How ironic that he was afraid to go to jail and leave his son with her , and then the child gets killed ! sad. When he went to jail he had a wife and family , then he comes out to find no wife , a dead son , a dead father and knows he is going to die slowly and painfully ! I would think that would be enough to drive anyone over the edge ! But, he should have tryed to seek mental help ! It is a sad situation. 4 needless deaths ! how sad.

Dew I am so glad that you improved your life . As I always say ” there but by the grace of God , go I ” I love to hear anyone say the things you have said. And thank God you were able to straighten your life out. I wish that all these young kids who get mixed up with drugs could really see where it is leading to ! As I tell the youth in my life there is only 2 ways to go on drugs , death or jail !! I do not mean to imply that you were involved in drugs so do not assume I am. It’s just that 9 out of 10 legal problems today involve drugs. I worry so much about the youth in my own family , this world is very different from the world I grew up in ! But, I take offense at being referred to as a ” moron ” lol I use empathy but do not condone the horrible crime of murder !!! In my day if a man was mad at another man , they had a fist fight and settled matters but today they grab a gun !!!
I just belive if you are going to point fingers at one then check out the other party’s qualities also

Tru Dat, I gotta get up for work in 5 hours, be glad to carry on this topic in the A.M! Nite, Nite Bamabob!

I don’t know any of these people, but red flags are all over this story and how those were missed is beyond me.  What is truth and what is speculation will be sorted out with time.

All we know for sure is that this guy was walking an emotional tightrope and he fell toward the side of vengeance.

The grandparents appear to be innocent victims in all of this, but the rest pushed this guy too far and the results were predictable.

It wasn’t the weapon that killed all these people.  It was the guy with his finger on the trigger.

Hence the reason are are here now, arguing over someone who is no longer here!
