Murder Suspect Arrested At The Emergency Room

Prichard Police Prichard Murder Prichard Police says a man charged with a Monday night murder shot himself in the leg. He was arrested at the hospital.

A man is in jail for a deadly shooting in Prichard Monday night. Police say 51 year old Kenneth Lafitte was shot after a fight with suspect Guy Smith. It happened at Lafitte's home on Omega Avenue in Prichard around 6:00 p.m.. News Five spoke with a woman who said she was Lafitte's wife. She told us that she and her family had just arrived home when her husband was jumped and then shot. Prichard Police say Lafitte died before officers arrived. The suspect, Guy Smith, was found at Spring Hill Memorial Hospital. Police say he shot himself in the leg. He is now charged with murder.
