Alabama State Troopers are investigating a collision between a motorcycle and an 18-wheeler that took one life.
It happened this (Thursday) morning on Theodore-Dawes Road, just off Interstate 10.
The circumstances surrounding the accident have not been released by troopers, but the video shows the motorcycle driver died beneath the tractor trailer rig.
The victim's name will be released, once relatives have been notified.

dougstech, I could tell that that the video was highly edited but it still does not change the fact that the video was shot while the decedent was still on the accident scene.  There is suppose to be some dignity in journalism.  I know that we do not let the press close enough to take pictures or film when we still have a body on the scene, it is just in bad taste.  I can watch the video and have watched much worse but personally I believe that out of respect for the family and friends of this young man they should not have made it so obvious that the man was still under the wreckage.  We are each entitled to our opinion and I ust voiced mine.

Trooper Cpl. Joe Piggott said in a news release that the motorcycle Stockton was riding was going south on Theodore-Dawes and the rig was headed north.

Piggott said the truck was attempting to turn left onto Trippel Road when the collision occurred. Stockton died at the scene.
Guess that answers the ??? Who’s fault. PLEASE watch out for motorcyclists. They are looking out for you!

mississippi, in case you cant tell, the video is highly edited because it keeps cutting back to a scene of the light. Keep the video. It is news, and the public has a right to know. Don’t watch the video if you don’t like it.

i was thier it happened at 8:38 am. as i know this .i was pumping gas at the pilot when i heard the impact of the crash i looked up to see the truck coming to halt and the motorcycle under its rear drivers side tires. it was 8:38 am cause this is when i dialed 911 as i ran to offer assistance.when i got to the passenger side of the truck and seen the victim. i told the 911 operator that thier was a fatality and i said a prayer. i waited for police gave my acct.this was a real tragedy

Well I see the emails to Michael Snowden went along way in getting the video removed….  Again sensationalism in journalism is unnecessary and a little humanity goes a LONG way.

There are red lights at the interstate and there is a red light at the dog track.  But, that area is very confusing with traffic merging from the interstate and coming from multiple side roads and businesses.
. Btw, what is that building going up back behind the Waffle House?  It looks huge and that looks like a strange place to put such a big building.  What’s the rest of the story?

As a truck driver I have turned at the accident site many times turning into the Pilot to get fuel. This is a bad left turn to make in an 18-wheeler because people comming from the north act like its a race coming toward the interstate. There needs to be a traffic light there.

Well, I wrote Micheal Snowden as asda suggested. I just hope they will listen to the viewers. Anytime someone dies a traumatic death, it is hard for the family-but constant visual reminders are not needed of the accident. They will already have a mental picture, without the disturbing video adding to it.

I always as a motorcycle passenger has to agree this is kind of disturbing. But I also have to agree that it looks as if it was the truck drivers fault because many of times we have been coming through an intersection where someone pulls out in front us, it’s not cool. People need to pay more attention the motorcyclists instead of thinking i’m on 4 wheels and my car is bigger, i rule the road. It don’t work that way, people need to double check themselves. Motorcyclists have as much right to the road as anyone else.

This intersection is very dangerous as you can see.  Traffic comes from all directions, pulling out from Wendy’s. Waffle House, Subway, McDonalds and service driveway. When the big trucks are trying to turn in you can not see around then when you are passing this little intersection.  I have many times come through and prayed as a drove through that nobody was trying to cross.  Why is there no traffic light in such a busy spot? How many victims must the intersection claim before something is done.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family tonight.
