Mom Goes To Bar, Leaves Baby In Car

A Daphne mother is arrested for leaving her infant daughter in the car while she went drinking at a bar.

Police received an anonymous call about a little girl sitting in a car outside Bentz Pizza Pub on County Road 13. When the officer arrived, the engine was still running. Because the pub is outside the Department's jurisdiction, the officer called the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office and waited with the child.

After the deputy arrived, the child's mother came out of the pub and asked if there was a problem. Michelle Jaquess said she had one beer while waiting to pick up her pizza and that she had only been there for a few minutes.

But deputies say Jaquess had been in the bar for more than 30 minutes, that she had more than one drink and that she never ordered a pizza.

Police say the little girl was a little cold from the car's A/C, but was otherwise okay. Jaquess' estranged husband came and picked up the couple's daughter.

Jaquess is charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

well she did not order any pizza’s she just said that cause she didnt know what to say..and yes i heard it from her. that night it happened, and the only reason why she went there was cause her friend called her and told her to come up there and see her and the baby was already asleep when they got home so she didnt want to wake her up so she decided to take her with her

Angelnc16 - A few questions for you. This information you have did it come from her? It seems by the article that the police asked inside to see how long she was there and to check her story about ordering a pizza. Who told you she was outside the whole time? I don’t know this place she was at but if you can order pizzas to go i would think it would be ok if you put the baby on your hip and go inside to grab your pizza and leave.

okay first off
you have know ideal what ya’ll are talking about!!!
this mother is a very good mother! If you dont know her then dont judge her! You dont even know the whole story! People do exaggerate things just for publicity! I know this women very well and her family! Her daughter is my best friend and pretty much my sister! Yes, I do know what she did was wrong and that she should NEVER leave the baby in the car by herself but she was watching her and was out-side the WHOLE time she was there and she was NOT there for 30 min. it was more like 15! Plus she was NOT drunk! EVERY family has problems and are nowhere near perfect! So give her a break!!! She is a good mom and loves her kids with her whole heart and only wants the best for them. So what, she made one mistake but if she does get put in jail then just think of what kind of life her “4” kids would have to live.

You know, if you need a drink that bad, you have a real problem. But to leave your infant child in the car while you do, is unforgivable! Had I been there, it would take a team of surgeons a week to dig my size 12 out of her a$$.
