People in Mobile are talking about a new chapter in the history books of the United States.
Those attending the Wednesday night prayer service at Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church Number Two in Mobile sang and prayed for a special reason.
They reflected on Barack Obama's election to the presidency.
Reverend Hubert Baker, pastor of the church, said, "I'm 65 years old. I thank God for letting me to live to see history that was made yesterday."
Churchgoer Erma Philone of Mobile, said, "I think its the greatest thing that ever happened in America. It's one of the greatest days that we've had in a long time because what he is bringing for the country is hope for a better day."
80 year old Annie Mitchell said she didn't think she'd live long enough to see an African-American elected president.
Mitchell said, "I believe when he (Obama) was formed in his mother's womb that the Lord had planned this day for him."
But those attending the service said they know there's still work left to do.
Rev. Tommy Lawhorn with Greater Mount Olive Church said, "I think that what God wants us to do is come together as a nation: Democrat and Republicans."
Associate Pastor Reverend W.A. James, said, "If the people would just go along with the man and just believe in what he's doing, I believe that everything would be okay."
And Reverend Baker said, "Thank God for what He's done. He put joy in our soul."
