MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A Mobile-based anabolic steroids probe has
netted three more doctors in a prescription scheme, but the names
of the steroid buyers, possibly some sports figures, have not yet
been disclosed.
Doctors Kenneth Olds and Kelly Tucker, both of Greeley,
Colorado, agreed to plead guilty in Mobile federal court to
dispensing anabolic steroids, according to court filings yesterday.
Dr. Pamela Pyle, a Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, osteopath, also
admitted to the withholding offense, known as misprision of a
felony.
In January, Dr. Scott A. Corliss, also of Greeley, pleaded
guilty to withholding information about illegal steroids
prescriptions. His sentencing is set for October 29th.
According to a plea agreement, the doctors will forfeit money
that they received from writing improper prescriptions.
The physicians are accused of signing prescriptions - sometimes
without even seeing the patients - and faxing the orders to
Mobile-based Applied Pharmacy Services, which shipped the drugs to
the buyers.
A federal prosecutor said today more charges are possible. He
said the probe could wrap up this summer.
