Mobile police have identified the officer who shot a man three times after he grabbed the officers taser and tried to use it.

Christopher Moye is on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Moye joined the force in August 2004 and is a member of the Traffic Safety Unit.

Moye stopped Ricky Lett, Jr. on Government Boulevard July 2. During the traffic stop, police say Lett got out and ran. During the foot chase, Moye fired his taser, but only one prong stuck in Lett. District Attorney John Tyson Jr. says Lett then pulled the prong out, grabbed the taser and pointed it at Moye who shot Lett three times.

If the subject was under the influence of some kind of drugs or alcohol it might take more than a couple of shots to subdue him. When under the influence of certain things it can cause one to have a higher tolerance of pain and take longer to register the impact of the first or second shot. I am not saying that that is indeed what happened in this case. That just could have been an influence in what steps the officer had to take.

well as long as he didnt kill the guy just made him realize dont mess the the PoPo. I hope he is still getting paid!

Either need to get a bigger weapon or practice on his marksmanship.Three times? That is what the question is was he still resisting after the first two.Glad the policeman is alright but question his choice of weapon or ammo.

Yeah they have to investigate any shooting that occurs on the job. Administrative leave is something that all officers have to do while there is a pending investigation. This probably will not take long. Just procedure. The officer did get minor injuries while struggling with the suspect.

I assume the admin leave is automatic, and that he’ll be cleared pretty quick.

glad the officer is okay, if you have to be on leave he sure picked a weekend to be on leave. good luck officer and hope this all resolves quickly. try and enjoy your time off, its a pretty much open and shut case. thanks for being out there in the middle of the craziness. i wouldnt know what happens after the sun goes down, when it goes down i do too, just glad someone is out there keeping the night lifers at bay. thanks again.

I missed the part about the officer getting injured.

Good job Chris! Hope you are recovering well from your injuries.
