MOBILE, Alabama - A 22-year-old Mobile man has been sentenced
to life in prison without parole after he pleaded guilty to killing
his 77-year-old grandmother as she made him something to eat.
Detrice Haggins Jr. pleaded guilty to capital murder Friday in
Mobile County Circuit Court. Under the plea agreement, prosecutors
did not seek the death penalty.
Haggins was accused in the March 29, 2008 shooting death of
77-year-old Sally Culpepper.
Under Alabama law, a jury must still be convened to hear the
evidence and agree that Haggins is guilty because it is a capital
case.
Authorities said Haggins stole jewelry and credit cards from his
grandmother by marriage and drove off in her 2004 Pontiac Grand Am.

Mom2Angel, I think you have it right. We don’t knwo what’s in the minds of people who do these heinous acts. How many Christians believe he can sink to his knees in regret and ask for salvation? How many really believe in the Mercy God shows?

I just had a thought!

Instead of sending him to China, why not just imitate the Chinese here in Mobile.  We can harvest/resell his organs.

I’d consider a pair of kidneys, two lungs, and several yards of skin as a good start.

Comments?

So because he pled guilty to killing his grandma while she was cooking for him, we as taxpayers now have to support him for the rest of his life with 3 meals a day, a place to sleep, and all the “brotherly love” he wants.

As we have a trade deficit with China, perhaps we could look into sending these thugs with no redeeming social value over there.  I hear they have a great redemptive youth in Asia program.

This is sad and something he will have to live with the rest of his life. Surely he wasn’t clear minded when he commited this horrific crime.
