A Mobile County teacher is busted in an undercover sex sting.

Daphne police say Danny Moncla approached an undercover officer at the Scenic Overlook around 6:00 p.m. Thursday and asked the male officer for sexual favors.

Police conducted the sting because they've been getting complaints about sexual activity at the overlook.

Moncla teaches advanced and gifted students at Grand Bay Middle School. Since April 1995, he has taught at Mae Eanes Middle School, LeFlore High School, Alba Middle School and Grand Bay Middle.

Moncla is charged with loitering for deviant sexual activity. The school system says they can't comment on personal issues while an investigation is going on..

How much did the tax payers pay for this “Gay Sting?”

I’m pretty sure it’s illegal to loiter in a public place with the intention of conducting sexual activity.  The cop must have acted “into him” and tricked him into saying that he wanted to engage in certain mysterious acts in the public place.  Technically illegal.  Or maybe they tricked him into saying he wanted to introduce an illegal sex toy into the encounter.

But yeah.  It was probably a gay sting.  It worked.  He’s out now, and will likely be crucified accordingly.

So glad to hear he has other career options.  I hope that he doesn’t lose the calling that is his passion over this.

The article reads, ‘Moncla is charged with loitering for deviant sexual activity.” Wikipedia says, “Deviance describes actions or behaviors that violate cultural norms.” So, if Mr. Moncla would have asked a woman for sexual favors, I suppose that would not have been deviant. If you ask me, it sounds like homosexuals were the target of this “sex sting,” which should be a violation of civil rights.  As long as he wasn’t looking to pay for sex or have sex with a minor, it sounds like the only thing he was guilty of is being a homosexual in Alabama.

Ya’ll haven’t figured out by now, that the only folks who make the “news,” are LE and teachers, or anything that can even be remotely used to put them in a negative light? Look at the MCSO booking records for the last 24 hours-public records,btw-and see how many sex charges there were. But i guess it doesn’t count if you are some crack-head on the street, or a construction worker, or anything else, right?

You are right on target southfan, and Dave!

I agree, Dave. Mr Moncla taught me for 3 years of my life, probably 7 years ago now. I respect him immensely, whether he tried to have a little sex or not. He didn’t do anything wrong.

However, teaching was just a passion of his. He owns restaurants and is also a lawyer. Mr. Moncla, thank God, isn’t ruined.

Thoughts of a single male:
When I go to a bar, I typically scan the area for any decent female that will potentially show interest in me.  I’m not sure about other men, but when a female acts like she’s actually interested, I just assume she is a possible candidate to have sex with.  Who am I kidding?  Even if I meet a female outside of a bar the same rules still apply.

To the Daphne Police:
Good job on your “sex sting” (sarcasm)...  Next you should have a female officer wait around in public places and see just how many single men she can bait into a misdemeanor.  You think only gay men do these kinds of things?  Way to use tax-payer dollars.

To WKRG:
You just ruined one of the best teachers this school system has to offer.  I hope you’re happy.  And congratulations on picking two winners to interview for this story (sarcasm)...  That was just the perfect quote to spread your ignorance; “If he ask a male for sex, he ask a child for sex.”  And the headline for the story is just great; you really got your point across.

Final words:
Since Mr. Moncla’s career is over, I hope he sues WKRG and the Daphne Police Department and gets to retire early.

he was my teacher last year and supposed to be this year he seemed nice

Hmm So many things that Christ preached against, hate, debt, usery, judgement…and you choose to focus on someone who acts out sexually with another adult? Big Deal.

Post stories about all the men arrested on Government or Telegraph road soliciting for sex. Their wives/girlfriends need to know.

I think more people pick up prostitues or engage in anonymous flings than anyone realizes.  Maybe even YOUR husbands.  People’s sex lives are their own business (and maybe their spouses’).  It doesn’t sound like this guy was even married.  He made a bad decision to do this in a public place, but it was probably late at night, he probably thought he was approaching another consenting adult who wanted the same thing, and he probably never intended on anyone seeing what they did.  Why do gay men do this sort of thing?  Because they are forced to live in fear that they will be judged and hated if they are open about their sexuality.  Maybe even lose their jobs.  It is very hard to work as a gay teacher around here, which is immensely unfair.  The first thing some of you think is that if he’d approach an adult male, he’d approach a male child.  Ridiculous!  Unless there’s a lot more to the story, the way this man is being treated really breaks my heart.

Where did these middle school kids come from? That was some of the most random arguing I have ever seen. Anyway, the question is what he was trying to do with the undercover officer. If age was exchanged and the undercover officer was possible posing as a minor, if he was trying to pay in return for the service, etc. I agree if it was just a random hook-up with a guy that was not a minor I see no problem. However, I do not think that you want a teacher teaching your kids that goes out and picks up a prostitute on occasions. JMO.
