Alabama Barack Obama Todays marches celebrated history but tomorrow history will be made when Barack Obama takes his oath of office and becomes the nations 44th president. That fact was not lost on todays marchers and in some cases inspired them to participate.

The recognition of Martin Luther Kings birthday could easily have been considered a pre-inaugural celebration for Barack Obama and that was just fine for Obama supporter Bootsie Sandy. "A day that is really full of hope. I'm looking very much forward to President Obama becoming President Obama."
This is the first time Bootsie Sandy has taken part in a King march.
"He kind of fired me up so to speak so I feel very encouraged and yes it's because of President Obama that I marched today," says Sandy.
But folks around here say there is still work to be done and that old time spiritual "We Shall Overcome" won't be "We Have Overcome", anytime soon. "Not yet, we still got some things that's got to be ironed out. It's going to take some time like our new president has said." Sabrina Williams is selling Obama posters at the MLK celebration in Foley. "It's a combination of celebrating MLK's life and our new president coming in."
What once was a dream is becoming reality.
