CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - The Coast Guard says NFL players MarquisCooper and Corey Smith and two other men put on their life vests
after their boat overturned in the Gulf of Mexico Saturday evening.
Capt. Timothy Close says the rescued man, Nick Schuyler, told
interviewers that the boat capsized as they were pulling up the
anchor. They swam under the boat and were able to recover their
life vests.
The four friends managed to stay together for some time. It
remains unclear when and how they got separated.
Rescuers found Schuyler, a former University of Florida football
player, sitting aboard the overturned boat Monday afternoon. He was
transported in serious condition to a Tampa hospital.
The Coast Guard says they are still searching for the remaining
three men.
